Encaustic wax paintings have beautiful luster and shine, but as the wax on a fresh painting cures, it may become slightly hazy from time to time. This natural “bloom” can easily be buffed away with a soft, lint-free cloth such as a white cotton t-shirt or a microfiber cloth. It is best to buff a painting when it is cool to the touch. Be gentle when buffing so you do not scratch the surface of the wax. This bloom will lessen over time to the point where buffing will rarely, if ever, be needed.
