Cindy James lives in Edmonton, Alberta, and has worked as a court reporter and television closed captioner since 1992.

She volunteers extensively with the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove and is dedicated to the local arts community in Spruce Grove and surrounding area.

artist statement & Bio

Artist Statement

Encaustic medium is a perfect fit for my inquisitive nature and my passion for learning. I am as enamoured with the glassy smooth surfaces as I am with the textural capabilities of wax, and the ability to transform a painting into something sculptural is a constant source of delight.

I use my original photography and illustration in my mixed media work and have embarked on an exploration of encaustic collage with the inclusion of machine shorthand notes as elements in my paintings.

Bio

Cindy James lives in Edmonton, Alberta, and has worked as a court stenographer and television closed captioner since 1992.

In 2010 Cindy participated in an encaustic painting workshop and fell in love with the vibrant colour and versatility of the medium. She has learned her craft through various encaustic workshops both online and through travel to the United States.

Cindy continues to focus her work on the exciting yet ancient medium of encaustic wax and all that it offers.

Representation

Cindy is currently represented by Art on 9th in Invermere, British Columbia, Canada. You can also find her paintings at the Spruce Grove Art Gallery, Spruce Grove, Alberta, the Shop AGA, and at the Federation of Canadian Artists Gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia.
